Better results at my last dental cleaning finally?

Ever since I hit my mid-forties, my mouth felt constantly dry, and my gums were always slightly tender no matter how much I flossed. I tried the heavy-duty alcohol mouthwashes and those expensive medicated toothpastes, but they just seemed to strip everything away, leaving me more sensitive and frustrated than before. I honestly thought I was just stuck with it because of my age.

About four months ago, I decided to focus on my oral biome instead of just killing all bacteria. I started using ProvaDent (i get it here) daily. It uses a mix of xylitol and four probiotic strains, which felt like a much gentler approach than the harsh chemicals I was using previously.

The first two weeks were slow; I actually had a bit of a weird metallic taste initially. By the end of the first month, the morning dryness was much better. After three months of consistent use, my hygienist actually asked what I was doing differently because my plaque buildup was significantly lower.

It isn’t a cure-all. I still have to be diligent with my routine. ProvaDent isn’t cheap either, and it took six weeks to see real change. But compared to the old cycle, this works.

That metallic taste you mentioned—did it go away completely? I’ve tried other probiotic mints and sometimes they leave a film behind.

I’m always a bit skeptical about the ‘oral biome’ stuff. Is it really any different than just using a good non-alcohol rinse and a soft brush?

I’ve been on ProvaDent for about ten weeks now and I have to agree. My gums don’t bleed when I floss anymore, which was my biggest struggle. It really changed the environment in my mouth.

Same here. ProvaDent has been the only thing that helped with my persistent dry mouth at night. It took about a month for me to notice, but the difference is definitely there.

Wait, does this really have purple carrot in it? I saw that on a label once and thought it was just for coloring. Does it actually do anything for your teeth?

The dry mouth issue is so real once you hit a certain age. I’ve been using a humidifier but it only does so much. Might have to look into the probiotic route.

Glad to hear you’re seeing progress. I find that no matter what supplement I take, if I’m not using my water flosser every night, things go south quickly. It’s all about the combo.

How long does a single bottle actually last you? I’m trying to figure out if the cost fits into my monthly budget.
