Concerned for my partner—would going to the emergency room be excessive?

33F with a history of gastrointestinal issues including sudden urgency, a sensation of not being fully finished, false urges to go, nausea, hot flashes, and bright red blood on the paper with some stinging. Occasionally, there is a bit of blood and mucus in the stool itself.

Past medical investigations like blood counts, calprotectin levels, FIT tests, and a flexible sigmoidoscopy have all yielded normal results.

High-fat meals seem to set her off. Yesterday, we indulged in a lot of rich food for a birthday (after she had been eating very healthily with few issues for a month). Right after the meal, she dealt with intense urgency, stomach and back pain, nausea, and hot flashes. She’s also seen bloody mucus and blood when wiping (roughly under a teaspoon each time), with about 8 trips to the bathroom in the last 12 hours. She is starting to feel slightly improved but remains anxious.

Should we just wait to contact her specialist on Monday, or is a trip to the ER necessary? We will obviously go immediately if things take a turn for the worse.

Thank you for your help!
