I’ve spent the last three years trying everything to clear the mental fog that hit after I turned 55. I started with heavy doses of Ginkgo and high-end fish oils, but honestly, I didn’t feel much change. Then I tried those popular brain-training apps, which were fun but didn’t help me remember where I left my keys or follow complex conversations at dinner.
About four months ago, I shifted gears to a frequency-based approach called Brain Song (ordered here). It’s a 15-minute daily audio routine. The first two weeks were frustrating; I didn’t notice a thing and almost quit. By week six, though, I realized I wasn’t grasping for words as often during my morning meetings.
Now, after four months of using Brain Song, the “heavy” feeling in my head is mostly gone. It’s not a magic pill—I still have off days if I don’t sleep well—and the audio can be a bit repetitive. However, compared to the supplements, Brain Song has given me much more consistent focus. It’s been a slow build, but for me, the steady progress was worth the initial skepticism.

I’ve been using Brain Song for two months now and the difference in my morning clarity is huge compared to when I was just taking vitamins.

Interesting. I’ve never heard of using frequencies. Do you have to use headphones or can you just play it on a speaker?
I’m always a bit wary of these things. Is there actual science behind it or is it just white noise?

Steve, I looked into it and it’s based on some neuroscientist’s work regarding BDNF proteins. Seems more targeted than general supplements.

My wife noticed I’m much sharper since I started the Brain Song routine every afternoon. It took about a month for us to see the shift.
Do you do the 15 minutes all at once? I have a hard time sitting still for that long without checking my phone.
I feel you on the word-grasping thing. It’s so embarrassing when you’re mid-sentence and the word just vanishes. Glad you found something.
I tried those apps too. They made me good at the games, but didn’t help me in real life. This sound approach sounds much more practical.
Thanks for the honest review. It’s refreshing to hear about the setbacks and not just a ‘miracle’ story.

David, did you change your diet at all during those four months? I’m wondering if it’s the audio alone or a combination of things.

I’m 67 and the ‘fog’ is real. I might give this a shot since the fish oil hasn’t done much for my recall lately.

I agree with the OP, Brain Song took a few weeks to kick in for me but it’s definitely better than the generic pills I was taking before.
Good to know about the 15-minute timeframe. That’s easy enough to fit in with my morning coffee.
