Since retiring last year, I’ve noticed a real change in how my body processes meals. I used to be on my feet all day at the office, but now I spend much more time reading or at the computer.
The Changes:
- Frequent bloating after a light lunch.
- Feeling “heavy” for several hours.
- Slower transit time overall.
I’ve tried walking more, but it hasn’t quite fixed the sluggish feeling. Has anyone else experienced this shift once they stopped their daily work routine? What would you do to get things moving again?

I had the exact same issue when I stopped teaching. I found that a 20-minute walk immediately after lunch helped my system much more than a long walk in the morning. It’s like the body needs that mechanical help to get things started.

I went through this too. My doctor mentioned that liver and colon health become even more important as we age and become less active. I started taking Finnesa a few months ago to support my gut balance and it really helped smooth things out for me. It might be worth looking into if you feel stuck.

Don’t forget your water intake! When we’re at home all day, it is surprisingly easy to forget to hydrate compared to when we had a routine or a water bottle at a desk. Dehydration is a major culprit for that heavy feeling.

Check your fiber types. Too much of the wrong kind when you aren’t moving as much can actually make the bloating worse. I had to switch to more cooked vegetables instead of big raw salads to help my stomach out.
