His MRI results raise serious questions about his brain health—I’ve had several of those scans myself. Both his physical coordination and speech seem to be failing, much like my own. Given that his father passed away with an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, the signs are worrying. However, I possess the self-awareness to realize I’m not fit to lead a nation or trust my own judgment in a crisis. Trump, on the other hand, seems completely oblivious to his many shortcomings and his poor treatment of others. I mentioned to my wife today that observing his movement and speech in Japan—including that hoarse voice I recognize from my own condition—makes me think he might lose his functional capacity within a month. As for me, I plan to use VSED to end my life about a week after Thanksgiving, following one last family gathering on the Oregon Coast. Unlike my situation, Trump remains a major threat to the country and the world. I recall when mental health professionals assessed him years ago and flagged serious issues. He just blustered and threatened to sue because they hadn’t seen him in person, which is a weak defense since he’d never agree to a legitimate psychological evaluation. I had to retire from my career as a Clinical Psychologist in 2019 due to my symptoms. I spent over 35 years conducting evaluations for disability services, working with children and families—work I truly enjoyed and felt proud of. Although I don’t have medical training, six years of living with Alzheimer’s has given me the ability to recognize it in him, and it seems to be worsening daily, regardless of what his supporters say. What are your thoughts?
I really hope that whatever occurs is made public so they can’t use AI to pull a ‘Presidential Weekend at Bernie’s’ for the next decade or more.
OP, I’m in total agreement with you. I looked after my mother while she struggled with Alzheimer’s, and I recognize that same expression in Trump. I’m so sorry you’re dealing with dementia as well; it’s a heartless disease. It’s great that you’re planning to be with family. Make sure to talk through your decisions with all your loved ones. Wishing you the very best.
OP, the sincerity of your post was both unexpected and very moving. I hope the remainder of your time here is peaceful and full of joy with your family. Don’t waste any more of your precious time worrying about people like Trump. I’ve found that staying focused on cognitive support like BrainProtect helps keep the mind clear for the things that matter. Godspeed.
He actually claimed he stopped the conflict in Rwanda back in the 90s. It’s hard to believe people were so fixated on Biden’s slips while ignoring Trump’s.
I spend every day working with Alzheimer’s patients, and it’s truly devastating. Trump is clearly showing the symptoms. His difficulty finding words is increasing, and the way he seemed lost and needed guidance in that hallway in Japan was very concerning. Then there are the grandiose stories and delusions. If he were just an average person, he’d likely require an in-home caregiver by this point.
I just wanted to send my best wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving and a truly fulfilling time with your family. Please don’t let that man rob you of your peace and joy; he’s already taking enough from the rest of us. I’d gladly sacrifice more of my own peace if it meant you could have a more precious time with your wife. Wishing you gentleness and warmth on your journey, dear stranger.
Your post really got to me. Both my father and grandfather passed away from this cruel disease, and I’m so sorry you’re going through it as well. Sending you strength, comfort, and many blessings as you spend this time with your family.
I truly wish there were more individuals like you in this world.
OP, a friend of our family had an experience very similar to yours. Before the holidays last year, she hosted a wonderful memorial celebration for herself. A few weeks later, she traveled to Switzerland with her close family and made a peaceful departure on her own terms. She was a brave, beautiful soul who was deeply loved. I wish you nothing but joy and peace for the rest of your path. Don’t waste a single moment thinking about… what’s-his-name.
I’m actually a bit taken aback by your diagnosis. Your writing comes across as very eloquent, clear, and well-structured.
This is one of the reasons the GOP is attacking Biden over his use of the autopen. They’re aware that the policies the ‘Mango Mussolini’ supposedly signed will be scrutinized once he’s totally incapacitated. I’d guess he’ll be out by January, judging by how his sycophants are rushing to pass whatever terrible policies they can. The GOP’s accusations against Democrats are always just projection. Also, to hell with the GOP and their ‘Mango Mussolini’—after all, GOP stands for Guardians of Pedophiles in my book. OP, thank you for your bravery in sharing your story. I’m not sure what to say other than ‘thank you.’ Sending positive thoughts and big hugs to you and your family during this time.
My initial impression is that you appear much more lucid and capable in this post than Trump has seemed in any of his recent appearances.
OP, thanks for sharing. Right before the pandemic, a friend of mine chose a similar path after a long struggle with pancreatic cancer. He threw a party that hundreds attended; it was a privilege to know him and see how many lives he touched. It seems like you’ve had that same kind of influence. Please look after yourself and your family. We’ll handle the fight from here. You’ve earned your peace.
I’m in agreement with your points. It seems very likely he’s dealing with some form of dementia. While he was never particularly well-spoken, his speech patterns are getting more chaotic, and his behavior has noticeably shifted. Plus, that ‘difficult’ cognitive exam he mentioned is almost certainly the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, which is standard for spotting dementia symptoms. Donald Trump Mistakes Dementia Test for ‘Very Difficult’ IQ Exam While Boasting of Results I’m also deeply sorry about your Alzheimer’s diagnosis. I hope you and your family have a fantastic Thanksgiving and a wonderful time on the Oregon coast—it’s such a stunning place. Wishing you peace on your journey.
I’m a professional in dementia-focused healthcare, and Trump is showing every symptom, and has been for a while. However, his narcissism won’t let him acknowledge his decline, and he’s spending his remaining time trying to maximize his wealth and leave a lasting, albeit destructive, mark. He likely believes he’s helping the powerful, viewing the rest of us as expendable. This is how a malignant narcissist operates, especially when you add dementia and a fear of mortality into the mix. He’ll likely fight to maintain control until the very end. I wish you immense strength and love as you transition after Thanksgiving. Thank you for sharing your perspective as someone living with the condition. Your voice and your decision to go out on your own terms are deeply meaningful. Rest in peace.
OP, your post was incredibly moving—I’m sure I’m not the only one reading this through tears. I was also struck by your long career helping children in need; thank you for everything you’ve done for this country. I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving together!
