Don't ignore these joint recovery basics

Hi everyone, I’ve been part of this group for a while and I’ve noticed a few things we all seem to do when the knees or back start acting up. One of the biggest mistakes I made for years was thinking that total rest was the only answer. I’d sit on the recliner for days, but it actually made my stiffness way worse. Movement is medicine, even if it’s just a slow walk around the house.

Another thing is relying solely on oral painkillers which can really tear up your stomach over time. I started looking into topical options to target the inflammation directly at the source. I recently started using a recovery cream called Balmorex (i order from here) and it has been a game changer for my lower back. It uses MSM and arnica, which feels much more natural than the heavy pills I used to take. Lastly, don’t skip your water intake! Dehydration makes joint friction so much more painful. What are some things you wish you’d known ten years ago?

The ‘total rest’ trap is so real. My doctor finally told me that if I don’t move it, I’ll lose it. Now I do gentle stretches every morning before my coffee.

I definitely struggle with the water part. I never feel thirsty, so I forget to drink. I’ll try to keep a bottle with me today and see if it helps the knees.

Spot on about the stomach issues. I developed a minor ulcer from taking too much ibuprofen last year. Topical solutions are much safer for long-term management.

Has anyone tried those anti-inflammatory diets? I heard cutting out nightshades helps, but I love my tomatoes too much to give them up easily.

Great post! It’s the simple things we overlook that make the biggest difference in our quality of life as we get older.

Is that cream greasy? I’ve tried some balms that leave stains on my clothes and I hate the smell of menthol.

I actually picked up some Balmorex a few weeks ago after seeing a similar recommendation. It absorbs really well and doesn’t have that medicinal stink. My hip stiffness has definitely improved since I started using it.

I find that heat packs work better for me than cold packs. Does anyone else feel like ice just makes the joints lock up more?

I’ll second the recommendation for Balmorex. I use it on my wrists before I do my gardening and it really takes the edge off the swelling. It’s one of the few things that actually lets me stay active.

Thanks for the tips, SilverHiker. It’s nice to have a community where we can share what works without feeling like we’re just complaining about getting old!
