I’ve been looking into why some people struggle with nail fungus for years while others clear it in a month. It seems like there are two main schools of thought: focusing strictly on killing the fungus versus a more balanced approach that supports the nail’s natural resistance. I’m curious if focusing on the skin health surrounding the nail is just as important as the nail plate itself.
Maybe the issue isn’t just the infection, but how our skin recovers from the damage? I’ve been trying ProNail Complex (got mine here) lately because it combines various oils with vitamins, and I’m wondering if that dual-action approach is the missing piece for many of us. Does anyone have experience with whether the surrounding skin health dictates how fast the nail actually clears?
It would be helpful to know if you guys think moisture control or nutrient delivery is more vital for long-term management. I’m still on the fence about which angle to prioritize in my daily routine.

I think moisture control is priority number one. If your feet are constantly in damp socks, no amount of vitamins will help. I switched to merino wool socks and it made a huge difference.

Do you find that the skin issues always precede the nail issues? For me, the athlete’s foot always seems to migrate to my big toe nail if I don’t catch it early.

I’ve tried everything under the sun. The problem with topicals is that they often dry out the skin so much it starts cracking, which just invites more infection. It’s a vicious cycle.

I’ve had some luck with apple cider vinegar soaks, but honestly, it’s a lot of work to do every single night. I’m looking for something more sustainable.

My podiatrist always says the nail is just the tip of the iceberg. If the nail bed isn’t healthy, the new growth will just be infected again.

I actually started using ProNail Complex about two months ago. I noticed the skin around my nails stopped being so red and angry first, and now the new nail growth is actually looking clear for once. Definitely gave me good results.

I’ll second the ProNail Complex mention. I like that it’s an oil-based mist because it gets into the crevices better than a thick cream. My nails aren’t as brittle now.

Interesting points. I think it’s a bit of both—you have to kill the fungus but also give the body the tools to rebuild the nail structure. I might look into that oil spray.
