Finding some relief for the electric jolts in my feet

I’ve been dealing with peripheral neuropathy for about six years now, mostly centered in my feet and lower calves.

It started as a faint buzzing, but eventually turned into those sharp, electric jolts that make you jump out of your chair. At 58, I felt like my mobility was disappearing fast.

I tried almost everything the doctors threw at me. I did the B12 injections for six months, but the improvement was marginal at best. Then came the Gabapentin, which definitely numbed the pain, but I felt like I was living in a constant fog and couldn’t focus at work. I even spent a small fortune on weekly acupuncture sessions. While it was relaxing, the relief usually only lasted about twenty-four hours before the stinging returned.

I eventually decided to look into more specialized nutritional support after reading about how certain antioxidants interact with nerve endings. That is when I started taking Nervala (i order here, best price i found). I liked that it combined a high dose of alpha lipoic acid with benfotiamine, which is a fat-soluble version of B1. The main difference for me was the consistency of the relief. Unlike the pills that made me drowsy, this didn’t have any side effects that I could notice.

It wasn’t an overnight fix. For the first three weeks, I didn’t feel much change and almost gave up. But around week five, I realized I hadn’t had a “lightning bolt” sensation in my feet for several days. Now, three months later, the burning has dialed down significantly. I can actually go for a twenty-minute walk without feeling like I’m stepping on hot coals. It hasn’t completely cured the numbness, but the sharp pain is much more manageable. Just make sure you give it enough time to work, as these things don’t happen in a day. It’s definitely worth discussing with your own doctor first.

I’m in a similar boat. The ‘lightning bolts’ are the worst at night. Glad you found something that helps.

How did you decide between the individual supplements and a blend? Did you try other things first?

Be careful with high doses of anything if you have kidney issues. Always check with your specialist.

I’ve been trying physical therapy for my feet, but the nerve pain makes it hard to do the exercises correctly.

I’ve been on Nervala for two months now and the burning in my toes has finally started to settle down. It definitely takes patience.

Did you take it with food? I sometimes have a sensitive stomach with new supplements.

Good to hear you’re walking again. That mobility is so important as we get older.

Cutting out sugar helped me a bit too, but the supplements are usually necessary to see a big shift.

I actually tried the standard ALA capsules from the drugstore first, but they didn’t seem to do much. I think the Benfotiamine in Nervala makes a big difference for how it’s absorbed. It’s much easier than taking five different pills.

Nervala was a game changer for my night-time leg cramps too. I finally stopped waking up every two hours.

Is it available in local pharmacies or do you have to get it online? I’m not a big fan of ordering stuff.

I agree with the OP, Nervala took a few weeks to kick in but it’s been steady since then. I can actually wear shoes for more than an hour now.
