Has anyone else had rosacea pop up out of nowhere in their 30s?

I’m almost 34 and just started dealing with rosacea in the last month. I’ve had some hormonal breakouts in the past, but never this kind of flushing. Did anyone else go through this? Did you figure out a specific trigger, or does it just creep up on you without noticing?

EDIT: I really appreciate the replies. It’s a relief to see I’m not the only one and I didn’t necessarily cause this. I was feeling pretty down about my skin yesterday, so hearing your stories about adult-onset rosacea has been a huge help.

It hit me suddenly in my mid-30s as well. You should definitely see a specialist to get a prescription plan for it.

Totally, it’s actually quite frequent for it to show up in your 30s or even later.

Mine began when I was in my early 30s. My complexion was perfect until then :frowning:

It appeared out of the blue when I was 46.

I always had a bit of a flush, but I wasn’t officially diagnosed until 40. I’m pretty sure it’s linked to my hormones and the start of perimenopause.

Mine just started this year, and I’m 42 years old.

I’m turning 30 soon, and it developed for me over the last nine months.

Yes—I struggled with acne as a teen, then things were okay until I hit 30. Now I have this constant redness.

Absolutely! It kicked in around age 31. At first, I mistook it for hyperpigmentation, then thought it was just dryness from a colder climate. I finally got it sorted and started treatment at 35!

Mine appeared abruptly at 33. After having a baby in late 2020, my cycle returned in early 2024, and by the next month, I had rosacea. I’ve never dealt with skin issues before, so it’s quite strange. I’ve seen a huge improvement lately using sulfur soap and cica creams.

I already dealt with ocular rosacea, which I initially thought was just dry eyes. However, shortly after getting a Mirena IUD, my skin flared up significantly with redness and pustules. I had clear skin until my late teens when I had bad acne, which cleared up with birth control. After stopping the pill, my cycle was irregular for years. At 27, I got the IUD, and within months my skin was the worst it’s been, plus I gained weight I couldn’t lose. I just had the IUD removed after seven years.

My skin was mostly okay until my late 20s, though I always had slightly pink cheeks. Living in Japan with the high heat and humidity definitely made the inflammation worse. Now that the IUD is out, I’m hoping a new prescription pill will help clear my skin and manage my weight. I’m optimistic things will improve now that I’m back in the Canadian health system.

It showed up for me at 48. I never had skin problems my entire life until perimenopause hit.

I was diagnosed in my early 40s, though I think I’ve had it since my late 30s. It’s definitely hormonal for me, as I flare up right before my period starts.

My skin used to be flawless. Then rosacea and an autoimmune disorder both hit me in my early 30s.

I was diagnosed with rosacea and acne last year at 31. I had clear skin for most of my life and loved playing with makeup. Now I’m self-conscious about my blemishes. It’s been really discouraging and painful, so I don’t go out much anymore.

Mine began around 36 or 37. I’m not sure if there’s a link, but it showed up right after I had Covid in 2021. I have redness across my face. A friend thought it might be lupus because of my other health issues, but the dermatologist confirmed it’s rosacea. I’ve been taking doxycycline for it.
