I’m experiencing numbness, stiffness, burning, and tingling in my feet, which gets worse when I’m trying to sleep. Even though my glucose levels are improving, I haven’t noticed any relief in my feet yet.
Absolutely! If you manage your levels, it will clear up in time. When I was first diagnosed, the pain made walking difficult, but now, several years later, it’s nearly vanished.
It hasn’t completely gone away for me, but since lowering my A1c from 10.4 to 6.7, the nighttime discomfort has definitely lessened.
My symptoms ceased once my A1C went down. Take care of those feet!
I’m in the same boat right now and seeing some positive changes after bringing my blood sugar and A1c down. Keep in mind that nerve regeneration is incredibly slow compared to other tissues. You might need to maintain stable levels for six months to a year before noticing a difference. Neuropathy is actually what led to my diagnosis; I dealt with severe pain, loss of sensation, calf cramps, and temperature fluctuations. While I still have those symptoms, they are far less intense now. I supplement with B1, B6, B9, and B12, and ensure I’m getting sufficient magnesium and potassium. I tried Alpha Lipoic Acid since it’s highly recommended, but it caused digestive issues for me
. I get ALA through meat consumption instead. Just be aware that full recovery isn’t guaranteed, as it depends on the extent of the nerve damage and your personal healing capacity.
I picked up a foot-shaped TENS unit foam pad. Using it three times weekly has been surprisingly effective, alongside keeping my glucose in check. It was definitely worth the $50 investment.
