Hi everyone, I consider you all my community and rely on your collective wisdom and support. I’m looking for positive outcomes from those who managed to silence their tinnitus. Please share your tips, alternative therapies, gadgets, or even hypnosis success stories.
It’s been 7 weeks of constant ringing in my left ear. It’s not pulsating, but it started during a bad throat infection; I also deal with neck stenosis and a pinched nerve. The noise is intense, though I get brief lulls. I’ve tried steroids for three days with no luck, plus Zyrtec and Flonase. Xanax helps lower the volume for a few hours.
Three ENTs have been unhelpful. I’m waiting on an MRI but have an audiology appointment next week—my hearing seems fine. My ear pops occasionally, especially when drinking, and there’s some pressure. I use a medical-grade Red Light Therapy panel daily, which provides temporary relief, as did five acupuncture sessions.
I feel like I’m constantly monitoring the sound; I can’t stop focusing on it. Please, I’m not looking for advice on how to just ‘live with it’—I’m determined to find a solution while I still have hope. I need those success stories to keep going. I’m 54, postmenopausal, and have been on HRT for 4 years.

I haven’t dealt with this personally, but I remember a post where someone mentioned that fixing their iron deficiency stopped the ringing. You might have checked this already, but I thought it was worth mentioning just in case.
I have a similar issue in my left ear. HRT helped reduce the intensity. I use Zyrtec to help with fluid drainage, which often clears it up. I’ve also been using the gym sauna for its anti-inflammatory benefits, and that seems to have helped too.
I fixed mine by raising my ferritin levels to 250 using Proferrin heme iron supplements.
A friend of mine who is a nurse saw her OBGYN, and he gave her a prescription for Valtrex. Even though she didn’t have herpes, he suggested she try it. Surprisingly, it stopped the tinnitus completely, and it hasn’t returned.
I haven’t found a way to stop it yet. My 83-year-old father has it too and has seen every specialist imaginable without finding a cure.
I have to have some kind of background noise going at all times—TV or music, even while asleep. It’s the only way I can turn the ringing into a minor bother rather than something that feels like it’s driving me crazy.
The ringing was so loud I could barely think or hear anything else. My doctors told me there was no cure. However, I read that a Vitamin B deficiency might be the cause. I checked my labs and saw I was borderline low, though the doctors didn’t flag it. I requested a retest, and it had dropped significantly. I started Vitamin B shots, and within a few months, the noise dropped to a manageable level. After a few more months, I realized the ringing had vanished entirely.
