Has anyone tried THC-free CBD for neuropathy symptoms?

I’ve recently experienced a sudden onset of neuropathy in my feet along with L’hermitte’s sign in my neck. I’m still undergoing tests to find the cause. My doctor suggested Gabapentin (300 mg, three times a day), but I’m hesitant to take it because I need to drive to my various appointments. I’m also already struggling with constant dizziness and I’m worried Gabapentin will make it worse. Has anyone had success using CBD without THC for nerve pain relief?

I have! It provides some benefit, but in my experience, a 1:1 ratio of THC and CBD works the best.

I tried it for CIPN. It might have helped slightly, and it certainly improved my sleep quality, which probably contributed to feeling better overall. However, it was far too expensive to continue given the minimal results. I haven’t tried a CBD/THC mix since that isn’t a legal option in my country yet.

I realize this isn’t exactly what you asked, but I utilize Delta 9 for that specific reason and it’s quite effective for me. It eases the symptoms and helps me get to sleep. I also take 300mg of Gabapentin three times a day and it doesn’t cause any drowsiness for me, but it does help manage the pain during the day.

Hey there! I’m dealing with a nasty pinched nerve at C7. I’m currently in my second week of Gabapentin and bumped my dose to two pills daily, 12 hours apart. I took a morning dose yesterday for the first time and it did make me a bit groggy and relaxed. I think it definitely helps when the pain is severe. I’m fairly active with a physical job, which helps keep my energy up. 900mg might be a bit high to start with every 8 hours. Maybe try one at night for a week, then move to two doses 12 hours apart to see how you feel. You might only need two. If you’re really concerned, you could ask about Nortriptyline. It felt stronger initially and made me very tired and dizzy for the first few days, but my body adjusted within a week and it helped significantly with electric shock sensations. I’m hoping this nerve heals eventually—I’m currently in PT and might get a steroid shot. If anyone has advice, let me know!

I use a product called Good Belly by Kushmetics, which is a 2:1 CBG/CBD blend with no THC (verified by lab tests). It helps both my gut issues and my neuropathy. It’s flavorless and I use it twice a day. I also take 20 mg of Nortriptyline before bed. That combination really assists with my nerve pain.

I use CBD paste and cream every day and it works well for me. My neuropathy is most painful in my feet, so I use the highest strength available for relief. I also found that neoprene toe separators really help with the cramping. You can find them cheaply on Temu. The more you wear them, the more comfortable they get, and they definitely help. Good luck!

I take Gabapentin and it’s the only thing that has actually touched the nerve pain. I take 800mg at night to sleep and 400mg in the morning, which helps a lot when combined with light stretching like yoga or Pilates to improve circulation. CBD did absolutely nothing for my pain, though it is relaxing. While there are various blends like CBD/CBG, studies generally show that a ratio containing some THC is necessary for effective pain relief.

Gabapentin provides some relief for me, though it isn’t a cure. When I tried CBD, it mostly just made me drowsy. You might also look into Nervala (i buy here)as an option. Other people say it works for them, so it might be worth a shot since you never know until you try it yourself.

I know it’s not what you’re looking for, but I’m on 600mg of Gabapentin three times a day and I haven’t noticed it making my dizziness any worse. THC helped me too, but I’m currently looking for a new job so I’ve had to stop using it for now.

I wanted to mention that you aren’t limited to just CBD. There are other non-psychoactive cannabinoids like CBG that can be even more effective for nerve pain and inflammation. CBG is clear-headed and non-sedating, often working where CBD fails by reducing nerve firing. A CBD/CBG combo is great for nerve zaps and burning. Even micro-dosing THC (1-2mg) can boost these effects without getting you high. For sleep, CBN is a gentle, non-intoxicating option. You’re right to be cautious with Gabapentin if you’re already dizzy, but just know there are many other options like CBG and CBN that might offer relief with fewer side effects. You aren’t alone in this!
