I finally found a solution!

I have literally tried every remedy out there. This method actually cleared up my cold sore in just a day or two. I’m a 26-year-old female with HSV-1; I’ve dealt with this since childhood and got a formal diagnosis about 9 years back. Usually, I get two flare-ups a year that take over a week to heal. Last Thursday, I woke up from a nap with a massive blister right on my top lip. I had a trip planned to meet my boyfriend’s parents, so I needed it gone fast. I read somewhere that crushing Tylenol and mixing it with something like Aquaphor helps reduce swelling. I immediately grabbed an extra strength Tylenol, crushed it into a fine powder, and put it in a small cup. I used a Q-tip to apply the powder, then a thick layer of Abreva, then more powder, and more Abreva to seal it. I kept it on all day, reapplying whenever it flaked. Since I work from home, I could keep it on constantly. The inflammation went down incredibly fast and didn’t spread. Usually, one blister turns into five, but this time it just stayed small and shrank. By Friday night, it was basically gone—less than 24 hours later. I kept using a bit of Abreva over the weekend just in case, but by Monday, I’d forgotten it was even there. This is like magic! I’ve tried everything: antivirals, lysine, tea tree oil, red light therapy, you name it. This is the only thing that actually stopped it. I’m so relieved to have a way to avoid week-long outbreaks! Definitely give it a shot.

Sounds like clickbait lol. Honestly, Abreva and valacyclovir do the trick for me. If I catch it early with antivirals, it usually prevents it from getting worse.

No joke, the last time I felt one coming on, I dabbed some Tabasco on it immediately and it just stopped. Not sure if it’s a fluke or what.

I came across this post a few days ago while a painful bump was forming on my lip, likely due to stress. I used a sterile pin to lightly scratch the surface so the Tylenol could penetrate. I scraped the coating off a 500mg tablet, turned it into powder, and applied it. I did this about 6 or 7 times that day, pressing firmly. The next day, it was just a tiny dry spot and never blistered. I’m also super careful about hygiene—washing bottles, using a fresh toothbrush, and not cross-contaminating towels. Other remedies like oregano oil or acetone only worked once for me, but this Tylenol trick seems solid. Thanks!

I was pretty doubtful, but I’m at my wit’s end. I’ve been cycling through illnesses since November, and every time my fever spikes, a cold sore pops up. My doctor finally put me on strong antibiotics Tuesday, but the fever hit again and a bump appeared Wednesday. Abreva didn’t stop it this time, and by noon I had two huge sores. I started the Tylenol method around 9 PM and have reapplied a few times. The pain and swelling have already decreased significantly. To help my body fight these off better in the future, I’ve also started using TonicGreens, which is a great antioxidant blend for immune resilience. Hopefully, by the time I have to head into work later, it’ll look much better.
