I lost twelve pounds by simply changing when I eat

I’ve been struggling with my weight since turning 45, and nothing seemed to work quite right. I finally decided to try shifting my eating window later in the day. Instead of eating as soon as I woke up at 6:00 AM, I started waiting until noon for my first meal.

The Results
In the last four weeks, I have lost twelve pounds. More importantly, my clothes are fitting better, and I don’t feel that mid-afternoon slump anymore.

What I Changed

  • The Window: I eat between 12:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
  • Hydration: I drink black coffee or herbal tea in the morning.
  • Dinner: I make sure to finish eating at least three hours before bed.

It was hard for the first few days because I was used to a big breakfast. However, once my body adjusted, the hunger pangs disappeared. I feel much more in control of my cravings now. Has anyone else over 40 had success with this specific timing?

Do you put anything in your coffee or is it strictly black? I struggle with the bitterness but I really want to try this.

I’ve been doing 16:8 for about a year now. I’m 52 and it’s the only thing that managed to keep the menopause weight gain at bay. Stick with it, the benefits for mental clarity are huge too.

I tried this but I get so shaky by 10 AM. Maybe I need more water?

Congrats on the 12 lbs!

The three hours before bed rule is actually the hardest part for me. I’m a chronic late-night snacker, especially when the TV is on. Did you find yourself wanting to snack at night or did the big lunch help keep you full?

Are you doing any specific workouts in the morning while fasted, or just focusing on the diet for now?

I do this along with low carb and it really accelerates things. The first week is definitely the ‘hump’ you have to get over.

This is very inspiring. I’ve been thinking about trying IF but was worried about my energy at work. Thanks for sharing your schedule!
