I’m dealing with SFN as a result of COVID. I’ve received conflicting opinions from physicians; some claim it’s reversible while others believe it’s lifelong. Does anyone have any insight into this?

Small fiber neuropathy can potentially repair itself if the underlying trigger is addressed.
My case (linked to long COVID) has gotten significantly better, although it’s been more than a year and I’m still not fully recovered. I highly suggest trying physical therapy.
It is possible, but it hinges on what caused it. My SFN was triggered by medication, and I was informed that once I quit the drug, the nerves would likely regenerate and heal at a slow pace. That’s exactly what happened—I moved from constant, agonizing pain to being nearly pain-free, with just the occasional flare-up and some lingering neurological symptoms over a few years.
