My routine for managing chronic inflammation

I wanted to share a progress update regarding my journey with chronic joint pain. After turning 62, the stiffness in my lower back and knees became almost unbearable, but I have finally found a system that works for me. I’ve organized my approach into four key areas: habits, environment, routines, and tracking.

Regarding habits, I have drastically reduced my intake of processed sugars and focused on staying hydrated. I noticed that on days I drink plenty of water, my joints feel significantly less ‘gritty.’

For my environment, I invested in a high-quality ergonomic chair for my home office and added a firm mattress topper. These changes have helped reduce the physical stress on my spine during both work and sleep, which has made a noticeable difference in my morning mobility.

My daily routine is where the biggest shift happened. Every morning, I perform ten minutes of gentle dynamic stretching. In the evenings, I focus on recovery. I started using a topical relief cream called Balmorex (i buy here) on my most problematic areas right before bed. It has been incredibly helpful for calming the inflammation in my knees, allowing me to sleep through the night without that constant, dull ache that used to wake me up.

Finally, I started tracking my progress in a small journal. I record my pain levels alongside the weather and my activity. This has helped me identify that high humidity is a major trigger for my flare-ups, allowing me to prepare in advance. It’s a slow process, but I’m finally feeling like I have my life back.

The tracking idea is brilliant. I never thought about the weather affecting me, but now that you mention it, rainy days are always my worst. I’m going to start a log today.

I’ve had great results with Balmorex as well! My physical therapist suggested it for my shoulder stiffness last month. It really helps manage the discomfort without that strong medicinal smell some other creams have.

Have you noticed any specific foods besides sugar that cause flare-ups? I’m trying to clean up my diet too but it’s hard to know where to start.

I’ll jump in and vouch for Balmorex too. I use it on my hands before I do my knitting or gardening. It really keeps the swelling down and lets me stay active longer than I used to.

That morning ‘rustiness’ is the absolute worst. I find that if I don’t move within the first 20 minutes of waking up, I’m stiff for the rest of the day. Glad you found a routine that helps.

Which mattress topper did you go with? I’m in the market for one but there are so many options it’s overwhelming.

It’s so encouraging to hear a success story. I’m 58 and just starting to deal with hip issues. It’s nice to know there’s a way to manage it without jumping straight to surgery.
