Has anyone with Sjögren’s experienced facial neuropathy on both sides? My whole face, including the eye area, feels like it’s burning and has weird sensations. The pain is intense. I suspect it’s not neuralgia because the pain isn’t sharp or localized; it’s just a steady burn. I have a hard time tolerating nerve medications. Are there any surgeries for this condition, or are those just for neuralgia? Appreciate any help. 
My experience was unilateral. It occurred on the same side where I dealt with jaw inflammation involving synovitis and bone edema—doctors first thought it was TMJ before an MRI revealed the truth. They suspected the trigeminal issues stemmed from that, but even after treating the jaw, the burning in my lips and numbness on the left side persisted, along with sharp pains. My symptoms finally cleared up using a mix of methotrexate, Rituximab, and Neurontin, plus diazepam and other drugs. Methotrexate didn’t do much by itself; I think the Neurontin or Rituximab made the difference. Wishing you the best!
Have you looked into nerve block shots? Most pain clinics provide them, and they can be quite effective for some. I’m really sorry you’re going through this; the pain is truly agonizing.
You can find these at pain management or sometimes spine centers. It might be worth calling local clinics to see who performs trigeminal nerve blocks. While some find relief after one shot, others require a second dose about a week later. Results vary, of course. Having worked in a pain clinic for five years, I can say this is among the most severe pain I’ve witnessed.
