Protecting your eyesight while staying active in the garden

I’ve spent most of my life outdoors, whether it’s tending to the flower beds or just enjoying a long walk in the park. Now that I’m in my sixties, I’ve started noticing that my eyes aren’t as resilient as they used to be. The glare from the sun seems much harsher lately, and I was getting worried about age-related decline. I wanted to share a few things that have actually made a difference for me recently.

First, don’t underestimate a good pair of wraparound sunglasses. They aren’t the most stylish, but they block the wind and dust that can really irritate older eyes. I also make sure to wear a wide-brimmed hat every single time I step out. It sounds simple, but it cuts down on the direct strain significantly.

Diet-wise, I’ve been trying to load up on leafy greens like kale and spinach. However, getting enough of those specific nutrients every day can be a bit of a chore. After doing some reading on how to defend against oxidant damage, I started taking Vision20 (i order from here) and it has been a solid addition to my routine. It feels good knowing I’m doing something to strengthen my eyesight from the inside out while I’m out there working in the dirt.

Lastly, remember to stay hydrated. Dry eyes are much more prone to irritation and redness. I keep a bottle of water by my gardening tools now. If you’ve noticed your vision getting a bit ‘weathered’ like mine, these small changes really do add up over time. What are you all doing to keep your eyes healthy as the seasons change?

The wraparound sunglasses are a lifesaver. I used to get so much grit in my eyes when the wind picked up, but those really sealed the deal for me.

What kind of hat do you recommend? I find the straw ones breathe well but sometimes the sun still peeks through the weave.

Make sure your sunglasses are polarized too. It makes a huge difference with the glare off of water or even just the sidewalk.

I’ve been dealing with cataracts starting up, so I’m definitely looking for ways to protect what I’ve got left. Thanks for the tips.

Leafy greens are great but I can’t stand kale! I try to stick to carrots and orange peppers for my lutein fix.

Hydration is key. I also use preservative-free artificial tears if I’ve been outside in the sun for more than an hour.

I’ve been looking for a good supplement. Is that one you mentioned easy to find? My current multivitamin doesn’t seem to do much for my eyes specifically.

I actually started Vision20 a few months back after my brother recommended it. It really helped with the clarity during my morning walks and I don’t feel as much strain.

Don’t forget to see your optometrist every year. At our age, things can change fast without us noticing until it’s a real problem.

Can confirm that Vision20 is worth a try. I’ve been using it for about six weeks and the sensitivity to bright light isn’t nearly as bad as it was last summer. It’s been a game changer for my gardening.
