Quit Promising People That Their Tinnitus Is Going To Improve

Look, I get that some people recover, but plenty of others don’t, and some even see their condition decline. Showing up in this community, particularly as a newcomer, and making sweeping claims that everyone will get better is incredibly disrespectful and hurtful. Doing that makes you a pretty repulsive person. You wouldn’t walk into a group for Parkinson’s or ALS and tell everyone they’ll be fine. That’s unhinged. If you have to say anything, at least say it “could” improve. Honestly.

“Hi, I just joined!”

Just quit it.

I realize it’s a struggle, but I truly believe that “to exist without hope is to stop living.”

It’s about time someone spoke up. Managing long-term illnesses is difficult enough without influencers peddling false promises.

So you’re telling me that working out, sleeping more, eating right, cutting out booze, cigarettes, and drugs, meditating, lowering stress, popping your ears, using white noise, wearing hearing aids, and trying the latest meds didn’t fix a decade-long case of tinnitus—even though you were already healthy before it started? Clearly, you’re the problem!
