Rented bowling shoes ruined my toenails

Last month, I took the grandkids bowling for a birthday party. I usually bring my own gear, but I was rushed and ended up wearing the rental shoes for nearly three hours. Fast forward two weeks, and I noticed my big toe looking yellow and the skin around it peeling. It’s been a nightmare trying to get it clear again before sandal season starts.

I tried a few home remedies like vinegar soaks, but I finally started seeing a real difference after using Kerassentials Serum (i buy here). It feels much more soothing than the harsh chemical sprays I tried first, and the new growth actually looks healthy. The resistance to the itch has been the best part.

Has anyone else had a rental shoe disaster like this? What are your go-to hygiene tips for shared gear? Also, how long did it take for your nail to fully grow out once you found something that worked?

This is exactly why I stopped renting! I always bring a spray can of disinfectant if I absolutely have to use house shoes. Tea tree oil can help the skin, but the nail takes forever.

I had a similar issue after a local tournament. I can vouch for Kerassentials Serum too; it took about three weeks before the yellowing started to fade, but it definitely works better than the drugstore creams.

How is the texture of that serum? I hate when things feel greasy inside my socks all day.

It’s usually pretty light and absorbs fast. To answer your other question, it usually takes a full 6 months for a toenail to grow out completely. You just have to be consistent or it comes right back.

Ugh, rentals are the worst. I caught something similar at a skating rink once. Now I wear two pairs of socks if I have to rent.

I actually bought a UV shoe sanitizer for my closet. It sounds overkill but it really helps keep the bacteria and fungus down in my regular work shoes too.

Good luck with the recovery! It’s a slow process but you’ll get there.

I honestly don’t trust the ‘spray’ they use at the counter. I’ve seen them miss half the shoe before putting it back on the shelf.

Patience is key. I’ve been dealing with a thick nail for a year. Just keep it trimmed short so the treatment can actually reach the nail bed.

For what it’s worth, I’ve been using Kerassentials Serum for about a month now on a persistent spot I got from the gym. It’s the only thing that actually stopped the spreading and cleared up the skin around the edges.

Glad you found Kerassentials Serum! It really is a game changer for the skin resistance. My nails look 100% better than they did last summer after I started using it daily.
