I keep seeing those fake ‘miracle cure’ ads. Does anyone actually have practical suggestions for managing or lessening the symptoms?
I’m in my mid-40s and have lived with this persistent high-pitched noise for as long as I can remember. I haven’t discovered anything that actually eliminates it. As others mentioned, maintaining some background noise is helpful for masking the sound. However, the truth is that whenever it gets silent, it returns immediately because it never truly went away—you just stopped paying attention to it, which is the key. Your best bet is to allow your mind to naturally tune it out over time (the brain is great at filtering stimuli), and eventually, you won’t notice it as frequently. Still, it’s always going to be there. Welcome to the group nobody wants to be a part of, haha.

Great, now I’m noticing it again… Jokes aside, ambient sound is what works for me; anything from a simple fan to a YouTube video. I usually don’t even pay attention to the content, but it provides enough distraction so I’m not fixated on that endless high-pitched ring.
