Seeing real results with better sleep

I wanted to share a quick update on my progress. For the last three months, I’ve been strictly focusing on my sleep hygiene to see if it would help with that fuzzy feeling I’ve had since turning 60. I stopped looking at my phone after 8 PM and started keeping the bedroom much cooler. It took about three weeks to notice anything, but the difference in my morning mental clarity is night and day. I used to reach for a second cup of coffee just to remember where I put my keys, but now I feel alert almost immediately after waking up. My word-recall has also improved significantly during my afternoon bridge games, which was a huge frustration for me earlier this year. It wasn’t a supplement or a fancy app that did it—just getting those solid seven hours of rest. Has anyone else found that fixing sleep was the missing piece for their brain health? It feels like a weight has been lifted.

That’s fantastic to hear. I’ve been struggling with the phone habit myself. Do you read a physical book instead, or just go straight to sleep?

The ‘word-recall’ bit hits home. I hate that tip-of-the-tongue feeling. I might have to try the cooler room trick tonight.

Sleep is the best medicine we have, honestly.

There is actually a lot of research showing how the brain flushes out toxins during deep sleep cycles. It’s like a nightly car wash for your neurons. Glad you’re seeing the benefits firsthand! I noticed a similar jump in my focus when I started using blackout curtains to keep the room dark.

I wish it were that easy for me. I get the hours, but I still wake up feeling like I’ve been in a fog for the first three hours of the day. Maybe I need to look into the temperature thing like you mentioned.

Keep it up! Consistency is everything with sleep. If you slip for a weekend, it can take days to get that clarity back.

Did you change your diet at all during this time, or was it strictly just the sleep changes? I’m curious if the two are linked for you.
