Stop drinking large amounts of water while you eat meals

I’ve noticed many of us in our 50s and 60s make the mistake of chugging a huge glass of ice water while eating dinner. I used to do this thinking it helped “wash things down,” but I eventually realized it was actually diluting my digestive enzymes and making me feel incredibly heavy and sluggish afterward.

It’s much better to hydrate well about thirty minutes before you sit down to eat. This gives your body time to absorb the fluid without interfering with the breakdown of your food. If you really need a sip during the meal, try warm tea or just small sips of room-temperature water.

I also started taking Finnesa (i order from here) to help with my overall liver and colon health, and it’s made a noticeable difference in how flat my stomach feels by the evening. Between timing my water better and keeping my gut balance in check, I’m finally avoiding that post-meal brick-in-the-stomach feeling. What are your thoughts on mealtime hydration? Do you find it makes a difference?

I never thought about the temperature of the water. I usually have a big glass of ice water with every meal. I’ll try switching to room temp tonight and see if it helps with the bloating.

I actually started using Finnesa last month after my sister recommended it, and my digestion has never been smoother. It really helps with that heavy feeling after dinner.

My doctor actually mentioned this to me years ago. He said too much liquid can slow down the stomach’s ability to process protein. Small sips are definitely the way to go.

I’m skeptical about the ‘diluting acid’ theory, but I do agree that drinking less during meals stops me from overeating because I’m not using the water to force food down.

Try adding a little ginger to your warm tea if you do have a drink with your meal. It’s a game changer for the gut.

I agree with the post, and adding Finnesa to my routine really helped clear up that sluggish feeling I had every morning. My liver health feels much better too.

Does this apply to soup? I eat a lot of broth-based meals and I wonder if that has the same effect as drinking water.

The ice water is the real killer. It shocks the system. I switched to warm lemon water in the mornings and it has helped my regularity quite a bit.

I find that if I don’t drink water, I eat too fast. Maybe the trick is just to chew more thoroughly so the food is easier to digest without the extra liquid?

Great tip. I’ve been struggling with discomfort lately and I definitely drink way too much with my meals. Will try the 30-minute rule tomorrow.

Finnesa worked wonders for my bloating too, it’s definitely worth looking into if you struggle with gut balance and want a smoother daily experience.

Post-meal walks are also very helpful. Just 10 minutes of moving around helps get things moving properly through the colon.
