Have you given ground flax seed a shot? I came to this sub looking for help and had already gone through: fiber supplements (made things worse), MiraLAX (resulted in soft stools but no actual movement), and MagO7 (caused a lot of intestinal distress and only worked while I was taking it). I decided to start putting 2 tsp of ground flax in my morning smoothie. My dog gets it in his food and he’s regular like clockwork, so I thought why not? I’m now on day 10 of consistent, healthy, and perfectly timed bowel movements. I wanted to share this for anyone else who feels like they’ve exhausted the typical options!
Great call! It provides fiber for bulk and healthy fats for lubrication, plus those omega-3s are fantastic for your skin and hair. It’s a win-win!
I tried that and it just led to either being backed up or having gritty, explosive situations. It was basically Jackson Pollock or nothing. I’ve had much better luck eating prunes daily.
The downvotes are hilarious. I’m not apologizing for trying to help someone out.
Yes, I rotate overnight oats into my breakfast schedule, and the weeks I eat them at least three times are the weeks I have no issues with constipation. Here is my basic setup: 1/3 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup plain fat-free Greek yogurt, 1/3 cup fat-free milk, 2 teaspoons chia seeds, 1 scoop protein powder, 1/4 teaspoon pink salt, 1 tablespoon PB2, and 1/4 teaspoon almond extract. I mix it all in a jar and let it sit in the fridge overnight; it stays good for about 3 days. When I’m ready to eat, I give it a stir and add 1/4 cup of fresh blueberries.
