Are you currently employed? Is working even an option for you? Sadly, I’m unable to work anymore. I used to be a teacher with a background in German studies and political science. These days, I’m pretty much stuck at home. I’m not confined to my bed, but I rarely leave the house. Even wearing clothes is painful, which makes going out a struggle. It definitely takes a toll on my mental well-being. Whenever I do step outside, I find myself wanting to rush back home right away. I used to love wandering through grocery stores for hours just browsing, but now I just grab what’s necessary and leave as fast as possible. How are you all faring? In what ways does this affect your career and everyday routine?
I’m working a full-time job with some adjustments, but I’m completely drained by the end of the day. I spend my first day off just trying to recover, and the second one is dedicated to getting chores done. It feels like it’s becoming more difficult with every passing week.
I still work full-time and have to travel weekly. The travel is incredibly tiring, though being able to work from home between trips helps me regain some energy. It’s a struggle, but I’m trying to push through for as long as possible. My neuropathy affects my whole body and is incredibly aggravating. Pregabalin is the only reason I can still function right now; it helps dull the pain.
I really feel for you; my condition is declining daily. I find myself rushing through activities I used to love because I get dizzy and my head starts tingling. I’m currently waiting on a hospital referral for more tests to figure out the specific type of neuropathy I have and see if there are any helpful treatments.
My autonomic issues forced me to stop working back in 2018. The neuropathy was just an added burden on top of everything else.
I’m unable to work as well and find it very hard to leave my home. Thank you for mentioning that; it helps to know I’m not alone in this and that it’s the disease causing it. Feeling isolated is a major struggle for me.
