I struggled with athlete’s foot for years because my toes never stayed dry enough after a shower. Towels just weren’t doing the job, especially in those tight spaces between the pinky toes.
What finally cleared it up was using a hair dryer on the ‘cool’ or ‘low’ setting for two minutes every single morning. Getting that area 100% bone-dry before putting on socks made all the difference.
I also started spraying my shoes with an antifungal spray every night. It took about three weeks, but the itching and peeling are finally gone for good.

This is so true. I started doing this last month and it’s a game changer.

Which spray are you using? I’ve tried a few but they always smell weird.

The hair dryer trick is legit. I actually combine that with wearing open-toed sandals whenever I’m at home. If you have the luxury of working from home, just let your feet breathe as much as possible. I also stopped wearing cotton socks because they just hold onto the sweat. Synthetic moisture-wicking stuff is way better for keeping the fungus from coming back.

Does the heat from the dryer not irritate the skin if it’s already red?

I use the cool setting like OP suggested. It doesn’t hurt at all, actually feels pretty good when your feet are itchy. The key is just removing that dampness that towels miss. Fungus loves a swampy environment.
