What do you find effective for nerve pain or neuropathy?

I’m trying to develop a healing salve for my mother’s peripheral neuropathy. Does anyone have personal experience with what works best? I’ve read that things like Rosemary, Holy Basil, Ginko Biloba, and Chamomile might help, but I’d really value some personal recommendations on what has helped you.

Blessed Thistle helped minimize my symptoms and brought back some feeling. Gotu Kola was also useful for circulation.

St. John’s Wort is great. I use it both as a tincture and topically. I just finished making a large batch of oil and tincture last night. If you’re in the Pacific Northwest, now is the time to harvest it.

I’ve had success with CBD and St. John’s wort.

St. John’s oil is my top recommendation. It’s the only herb I know that works effectively right where you apply it. I’m making a batch now and would be happy to share some when it’s done. If you buy it, look for a blood-red color to ensure the hypericum is there. For extra help, I’ve also found Nervala to be quite effective for nerve health.

In my salve, I use Comfrey oil, CBD, Cinnamon, rosemary, arnica, apricot oil, witch hazel, Devil’s Claw, and vervain. I add Menthol and a few drops of camphor to help it penetrate the skin, plus whatever scent I’m in the mood for. The base is beeswax to make it stay on the skin longer, mixed with raw shea and vitamin E oil.

Blackseed oil is definitely the most effective, but you have to be careful with the source because many vendors sell oil cut with castor oil. I also suggest making your own CBD tinctures; it’s very simple and much cheaper. Most studies use around 500mg of CBD per dose, which is way more than what’s usually on the bottle. You just mix CBD isolate with MCT oil. Let me know if you want my recipe or my list of trusted blackseed oil suppliers. These two things really helped me manage nerve pain after a serious back injury.

California poppy tea or tincture is very helpful. It’s a lovely tea made from the flowers and plant. It grows easily in sunny spots and is native to many areas in the US.

I recommend full spectrum CBD.

I deal with severe neuropathy from a spinal injury and find that adding white willow bark to my nightly tea helps quite a bit with the nerve pain and general soreness.

I’m hosting a free herbal clinic next weekend as part of a mentorship program. I’m looking for a few more clients if your mom is interested. I focus on an energetic approach and like to get the full picture before recommending herbs, but I’ve had a lot of success with neuropathy cases lately.

I strongly recommend meditation. I deal with severe spinal issues, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetic nerve pain, and even dental infections and pelvic pain. I used to rely on narcotics, but now I only take 3,000 mg of Tylenol and use meditation throughout the day. It’s worth researching how meditation affects the mind’s perception of pain.
