I am gathering information for a project I’m currently working on, and I would value any personal accounts or descriptions you could provide.
It’s a deep hum that feels more intense as my surroundings get stiller. I honestly cannot fall asleep without some form of background sound.
Think of those cinematic moments where an explosion occurs and the audio cuts to a persistent, high-pitched whine to show what the character hears. Tinnitus is essentially that, but it never stops. It is constantly present underneath all the other sounds of your day.
For me, it sounds like an extremely high-pitched screeching. Sometimes the noise is different in each ear. It usually stands out more when it’s quiet, but there are times I can hear it even when there’s other noise around.
In the beginning, it feels like you’re losing your mind as you struggle to make it stop. Once you eventually reconcile with it, it just turns into ambient noise that you ignore nearly all the time.
