Hi everyone, I recently had my first cataract surgery and realized I had so many questions beforehand. I wanted to share a few quick FAQs for those of you feeling a bit nervous. First, is it painful? For me, it was just a tiny bit of pressure, nothing scary. Second, how soon can you see? My vision was blurry for about 24 hours, but by the second day, colors were so much brighter! Just remember to follow the drop schedule strictly and keep your eye shield on at night. It’s a game-changer!

The eye drops are the most important part. I set an alarm on my phone because I kept forgetting which bottle was which. Don’t skip them!

Did you experience any ‘halos’ around lights for the first few days? My doctor mentioned it might happen but I’m curious about real-world experiences.

I had both eyes done last year. The biggest surprise for me was how much better I could see while driving. I didn’t realize how yellow everything had become until the first eye was fixed. My advice is to wear sunglasses even on cloudy days for a while, as your eyes will be very sensitive to light during the first week.

Don’t forget to stock up on preservative-free artificial tears. My surgeon said the surgery can make your eyes feel a bit ‘gritty’ for a few weeks while they heal, and those drops were a lifesaver for me.
