Why I stopped doing high intensity cardio for weight loss?

Ever since I hit my mid-forties, it felt like my body just stopped responding to the stuff that used to work.

I spent almost a year pushing myself through grueling HIIT sessions and strict keto, but the scale barely budged. I was exhausted, bloated, and honestly ready to just give up on my fitness goals entirely.

The mistake I made was thinking I could just out-train a sluggish system. I was also incredibly inconsistent with my supplements, taking them only when I remembered or doubling up on days I felt heavy, which I now realize was completely counterproductive. It wasn’t until I started focusing on my gut health that things actually shifted. About four months ago, I started using LeanBiome (i order here, best price i found) after reading about how an imbalanced microbiome can actually force your body to store fat regardless of your diet.

What made this different for me was the specific blend of lean bacteria like L. rhamnosus and the green tea extract they use. Unlike the jittery caffeine-heavy fat burners I tried in my 30s, this felt much smoother. I had to be strict about the timing though; I learned that taking it consistently with a glass of water in the morning was the only way to see the delayed-release benefits.

Within about six weeks, the persistent bloating in my midsection started to fade, and I finally saw the scale drop consistently for the first time in years. It wasn’t an overnight miracle, but it made my moderate walking and sensible eating actually produce visible results. I’ve lost about 14 pounds now, and I’m not constantly fighting those intense sugar cravings. Just a reminder that everyone is different, so it’s worth talking to a doctor, but for me, fixing the gut was the missing piece of the puzzle.

I had a similar experience with LeanBiome. The bloat reduction was the first thing I noticed after about ten days.

The cardio trap is so real. I used to run 5 miles a day and my weight wouldn’t move an inch. Glad you found something that works.

Are you still doing keto with this or have you added more carbs back in?

I’m always a bit wary of supplements but the gut health connection makes sense. My doctor mentioned probiotics last time I went in for a checkup.

Consistency is definitely the key. I used to skip days all the time and wonder why I wasn’t seeing progress.

I turned 50 last year and it’s like a switch flipped. Nothing works like it used to. Might have to look into this gut approach.

I’ve been looking at a few different probiotic-based options lately. How did you decide on this specific one over the standard store-bought brands? I’ve tried a few generic ones and they did nothing.

Don’t forget to drink plenty of water too. Most people don’t realize how much that affects digestion even with the right supplements.

RunnerDad75, I went with LeanBiome because it had those specific strains like L. gaseri that are actually studied for weight, not just general digestion. Most store brands are just for general gut health and didn’t seem to have the potency I needed to see a difference in my waistline.

14 pounds is a huge win at our age. Congrats!

Do you take it before or after breakfast? I find that some things upset my stomach if I don’t eat first.

It took me about two months, but LeanBiome really helped me get past that plateau I was stuck on for a year. The sugar cravings were the hardest part for me too.

Just started LeanBiome last week and I already feel less sluggish in the afternoons. Hope it stays this way!
