I’ve always been active, but I recently switched to a boutique hot yoga studio. I loved the intensity, but I wasn’t as careful as I should have been about hygiene. Looking back, the environment was the perfect breeding ground for trouble. The studio is humid, and while they clean the floors, dozens of people are walking everywhere barefoot. I started noticing my big toe looking a bit cloudy and yellow about three weeks in.
I decided to tackle this using a four-step approach: habits, environment, routine, and tracking. First, I changed my habits by never stepping foot on that floor without grip socks. For the environment, I started sanitizing my own mat after every single session. My daily routine was the biggest change. I tried several over-the-counter creams, but they were so messy and didn’t seem to soak in properly. I needed something that actually felt like it was repairing the skin and nail resistance. I eventually started using ProNail Complex (i order from here) after a friend mentioned it. It’s an oil-based blend with vitamins that felt much more natural on my skin than the harsh chemicals I was trying before.
Finally, I’ve been tracking the progress with photos every Sunday. The yellowing is finally growing out, and the skin around the nail doesn’t look inflamed anymore. It’s a slow process, but the resistance seems better.
What would you do if you were in a similar situation? Would you quit the studio entirely, or just invest in better grip socks? I’m torn because I love the class, but my feet are clearly sensitive to that environment. I’m curious if anyone else has managed to stay in their hobby while fighting off a persistent infection like this.
