After struggling with chronic eczema for 30 years, I've identified the few methods that truly make a difference

I have dealt with eczema for as long as I can remember. Like many of you, my condition has fluctuated in intensity, and I’ve often been confused about what makes it better or worse. I realize most people might dismiss what I’m saying, but if even a handful of you try these and get results, I’ll be satisfied.

  1. ELIMINATE REFINED SUGAR

Cut it all out—white, brown, everything. Stick to natural sources like fruit. Chocolate is out. I didn’t realize I was addicted until I quit. If you can manage this for three weeks, I think you’ll notice a drop in inflammation and redness. After three weeks of no sugar, my skin went from being bright red across my face, torso, and limbs to having no redness at all. I had tried everything else before this.

  1. GET SUNLIGHT

It’s simple: real sun for 20 to 30 minutes daily without sunscreen. Criticize me if you want, but I felt the itching and redness subside within 20 minutes of exposure. Growing up in the UK, this wasn’t an option, but moving to a warmer climate showed me how vital it is.

  1. MUSHROOMS

Not the ones from the grocery store. I’m not entirely sure why they help, but they do, and I think the same applies to LSD. To be safe, I’d suggest growing your own, which is quite easy. I’d recommend either consistent micro-dosing (three times weekly) or a larger dose once a month. Again, feel free to judge, but I find them to be truly transformative.

I’ll stop there. I have a few other ideas, but these have done more for me than the most expensive specialists in the world. One last thing: if you’re feeling hopeless, please don’t give up. Keep pushing. You can get through this and find relief.

I’m not so sure. I’ve had trips while my eczema was flaring, and it was a nightmare. It can help you process things mentally, but it’s easy to spiral. You might end up staring at your skin and feeling like you’re cursed. Stay grounded for now, and maybe try it once you’ve cleared up to appreciate your progress and reflect on life.

I agree on the sugar and sun. However, cutting sugar entirely is incredibly difficult and often results in a diet you can’t maintain. I prefer to just avoid refined sugar as much as possible. If I’m out with friends, I don’t stress it, but I try to keep my overall intake very low for sustainability.
