It’s easy to obsess over creams and pills while forgetting the basics of how our bodies fight back. One of the most common mistakes is underestimating the impact of sleep on our immune system’s ability to suppress the virus.
Pushing through burnout or pulling all-nighters creates the perfect storm for a flare-up. When we’re sleep-deprived, our T-cell production drops, making it much harder to keep the virus in check.
Instead of just treating the symptoms, try prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule. Giving your body the rest it needs is often the best defense.

This is so true. Every time I have a deadline at work and stay up late, I get a cold sore like clockwork. It’s my body’s way of telling me to slow down.

Does anyone else find that even if they sleep long, if the quality is bad (like from drinking), it still triggers an OB?

I’ve been working on my gut health and immune system lately too. I started taking TonicGreens a few months back and it has really helped with my resilience. I haven’t had a major outbreak since I started focusing on my overall health.

Sleep is definitely my biggest trigger, even more than stress. I try to get at least 7 hours now.

Great post. People forget that your immune system does all its heavy lifting while you’re out cold.

How do you guys handle the anxiety though? Sometimes the fear of an OB keeps me awake, which just makes it worse lol.

Melatonin helps me get to sleep faster when I feel that tingle coming on. Thanks for the reminder!
