Better nights with less foot irritation

I spent the last three years feeling like I was walking on hot coals every evening.

It started gradually, but eventually, it got so bad I stopped going to my weekly bridge games because I couldn’t focus on the cards through the stinging in my feet. I hated being that person who was always complaining or needing to sit down. My sleep was a mess too; I’d wake up several times a night just trying to find a cool spot on the sheets for my toes.

I tried just about everything the doctors suggested. I went through a phase with heavy prescriptions like Gabapentin, but the brain fog was just too much for me—I felt like I was living underwater. Then I tried those over-the-counter topical numbing creams, but they were greasy, smelled like menthol, and the relief lasted maybe twenty minutes. I even bought those generic high-dose B-vitamins from the grocery store, but they didn’t seem to make a dent in that deep, internal buzzing sensation.

A few months ago, I decided to try a more specific antioxidant approach with Nervala (usually discouted here). It contains 600mg of alpha lipoic acid and benfotiamine, which I’d read were better for nerve health than standard vitamins. It wasn’t an overnight fix. For the first two weeks, I didn’t feel anything different. But by week five, I realized I hadn’t thought about my feet once during a long dinner with my daughter. The stinging had dialed down from a constant roar to a faint hum.

What I like most is that it doesn’t leave me feeling drugged or drowsy. It feels like it’s actually supporting the nerves rather than just masking the pain. It’s much easier to stay consistent with one supplement than dealing with messy creams or heavy side effects. Of course, everyone reacts differently, and I’m still careful about my diet, but this has been a huge win for my quality of life. Definitely talk to your specialist first, but for me, the consistency really paid off.

I’m in the same boat with the sleep issues. It’s the worst part because everything feels ten times harder when you’re exhausted.

How did you decide between this and just taking a regular ALA supplement? Did you look at other brands first?

I’ve been on Nervala for three months now and the difference in my hand grip is night and day. It’s subtle at first but it definitely builds up.

I looked at standard ALA, but I liked that Nervala combined it with benfotiamine in the right dosage. It was simpler than buying two separate bottles and the quality seemed more reliable than the bargain brands.

Is it hard on the stomach? Some of those high doses make me nauseous if I don’t eat a full meal with them.

Good to hear you found something. I find keeping the feet elevated while watching TV helps a bit with the circulation too.

My husband uses Nervala too. It took about a month but his nighttime restlessness finally calmed down enough for both of us to get some rest.

Is it expensive? Insurance never covers these supplements so I’m always looking for the best value.

Glad you can get back to your bridge games! Socializing is so important for keeping our spirits up when dealing with chronic stuff.
