Hey everyone! I’m trying to find the most affordable and straightforward way to get weight loss medication since my insurance won’t cover it. Basically, I started an antidepressant three years ago and put on 30 pounds very quickly, despite being active and careful with my diet since high school. This change was really hard on my self-esteem. Even after switching meds and working with my doctor, the weight hasn’t moved in two years. Since my BMI isn’t in the “obese” category and my labs are normal, insurance won’t pay for Ozempic or Zepbound. I’m ready to pay out of pocket because this has really affected my quality of life. I go through Hers. It’s the cheapest route if you can swing the cost of a full year at once. Prices across different sites seemed pretty comparable when I checked earlier this year.

Many medspas were providing compounds, but mine is stopping in Feb 2026. I went from a 29 BMI to a healthy range. I’m in the same boat! Petite, on antidepressants, and gained weight fast. I use Kinetix Weight Loss and Wellness in Chicago (they do virtual visits). The first session was great for discussing my diet and routine. She offered GLP-1s, but since I’m not a fan of needles, I’m on a prescribed stimulant that helps with appetite. The membership fee gives you direct access to the doctor.
I’m sorry you’re going through this. There’s good advice here, but one thing: if you’re sexually active with men, consider extra birth control.
