Dealing with recurring gum inflammation even with professional cleanings twice yearly?

I’ve spent thousands on specialty mouthwashes and deep cleanings over the last decade. Every morning was the same—pink in the sink and that constant, metallic taste. I felt like I was losing the battle despite flossing like a maniac. My dentist just kept telling me to brush better, which was frustrating because I was already doing everything by the book.

About four months ago, I shifted my focus toward the oral microbiome instead of just trying to kill every bacteria in sight. I started using a chewable called Dentavive (ordered here) every morning. The first two weeks were honestly underwhelming; I didn’t see much change and almost quit. By week six, though, the morning breath was significantly better.

Now, at month four, my gums look pink and firm rather than puffy. The big win is that I can finally eat cold fruit without that sharp zing. Dentavive isn’t a magic wand—you still have to brush—and it took longer than I expected to see results. Also, it’s a bit pricey for a supplement. But compared to the painful laser treatments I tried last year, this approach feels much more sustainable for my routine.

I’m in the same boat. My dentist keeps mentioning deep scaling but it sounds so painful. Did you notice any change in your plaque buildup or just the gum health?

I’ve tried probiotics before and didn’t see much. Are you doing anything else differently, like a specific toothpaste or changing your diet?

I actually started Dentavive about three months ago too. My hygienist was shocked at my last checkup because my pocket depths actually improved for once. It’s definitely worth the patience if you can stick to the daily routine.

Can confirm, Dentavive has been a game changer for my sensitivity. I used to struggle with cold drinks every summer, but this year has been so much easier. It took about a month for me to really feel the difference though.

Is this the one with the Roman research background? I’ve been reading about how our ancestors had much better oral diversity than we do now because of their diet. It makes sense that we’d need to replenish those strains.

I looked into this but the price put me off a bit. I’ve been trying just plain yogurt and xylitol mints to see if that helps. Do you think the specific strains in this make that much of a difference compared to regular stuff?

How long do you let the tablet sit in your mouth? I heard with these oral probiotics you shouldn’t drink anything for at least 30 minutes after to let the bacteria settle in.

Thanks for sharing the timeline. It’s helpful to know it takes a few weeks to kick in. People usually expect overnight miracles with dental stuff and then get frustrated when it doesn’t happen instantly.
