Dealing with that constant pins and needles feeling: what changed for me?

I’ve spent the last five years trying to manage the buzzing and sharpness in my feet. At first, I thought it was just getting older, but it eventually made it hard to even enjoy a short walk. I tried the standard B-complex vitamins and even some expensive compression socks.

Everything I tried before felt like a temporary fix. The creams would soothe the skin, but that deep, internal electricity was still there. About four months ago, I decided to try a more targeted approach focusing on antioxidant support. I started taking Nervala (ordered here) because it had the specific 600mg dose of Lipoic Acid combined with Benfotiamine that my neighbor recommended.

Here is how the timeline looked for me:

  • Weeks 1-3: Not much changed. I actually almost gave up because I thought it was another waste of money.
  • Month 2: I realized I wasn’t waking up three times a night to shake my feet out. The ‘buzzing’ was still there, but muted.
  • Month 4: This is where I am now. I can walk the dog for twenty minutes without that ‘walking on glass’ sensation hitting me halfway through.

It isn’t perfect. I still have occasional flare-ups if I eat too much sugar or get dehydrated. It’s also not a ‘quick fix’—you really have to be patient for those first few weeks. I found that taking it consistently at the same time every morning was the only way to see progress.

If you feel stuck, I’d suggest asking yourself: Are you actually getting enough Lipoic Acid to make a difference? Are you tracking your daily triggers? Sometimes the smallest change in your routine, like adding Nervala, can be the piece that finally clicks. Don’t lose hope, even when the progress feels slow.

I’m in that ‘week 2’ phase right now where I’m wondering if anything is happening. Thanks for the reminder to stay patient. It’s so easy to get frustrated when you just want to feel normal again.

Have you noticed any issues with your stomach? I’ve tried high-dose supplements before and they always seem to bother my digestion. I’d love to find something that actually stays down.

The ‘walking on glass’ description is exactly what I deal with every morning. It’s the worst part of the day. I’ve been doing physical therapy, but maybe I need to look closer at my supplement routine too.

What kind of diet changes did you make along with this? I’ve heard cutting out gluten can help with the buzzing, but it’s so hard to stick to.

I’ve tried generic ALA from the drug store and didn’t see much. Is the benfotiamine part really that important? I keep seeing it mentioned in these groups.

I’ve had a similar experience. I started Nervala about two months ago and the burning in my calves has definitely calmed down compared to when I was just taking a multivitamin.

The sleeping through the night part is what I’m most jealous of. I haven’t had a full night’s sleep in three years because of the twitching.

I agree with the OP. Nervala worked better for me than the generic ALA I was getting at the grocery store. I think the quality of the ingredients matters more than we realize.

Does this interfere with any blood pressure meds? I’m always cautious about adding new things to my pill organizer.

Great post. It’s helpful to see a realistic timeline. People often expect results in three days and then get mad when it takes longer.

I’m curious if you think the benfotiamine helps with the ‘electric’ feeling specifically? That’s my main symptom.

I’ve been dealing with this for 15 years. I’ve tried everything under the sun. Some things help for a month and then stop. I hope your progress continues!

Do you take it with food or on an empty stomach? I’ve heard conflicting things about lipoic acid absorption.

Glad to see someone else mentioned Nervala, it’s been a staple in my routine for six months now. The shooting pains in my ankles are almost non-existent now.
