I spent the last three years trying to manage the constant pins and needles in my feet, especially at night.
I started with topical lidocaine creams, but they only masked the surface for an hour. Then I moved to high-dose Vitamin B12 shots, which helped my energy levels but didn’t touch the actual ‘electric’ sensation. I even tried a weighted blanket thinking it was just restlessness.
About four months ago, I shifted my focus toward antioxidants specifically for nerve health. I started taking Nervala (i get it here, discounted!) once a day with breakfast. I chose it because it combines 600mg of alpha lipoic acid with benfotiamine, which is a fat-soluble version of B1 that supposedly gets into the cells better.
It wasn’t overnight. By week three, I noticed the nighttime burning was less intense. Now, at the four-month mark, I can actually wear closed-toe shoes for a full walk without that stinging sensation kicking in. My minimal routine is just the capsule, a short morning walk, and staying hydrated. It takes consistent daily use to see a difference, and I still have to watch my sugar intake to keep things stable.

I’ve been using Nervala for about three months now. The biggest change for me was the reduction in that tight feeling around my ankles.

Did you change your diet at all during those four months? I’m trying to figure out if it’s just the supplements or a lifestyle overhaul.

How did you decide on this over just taking a standard B-complex or the individual ingredients? I see so many options at the health store and it gets overwhelming.

I actually tried the individual bottles first, but I found that Nervala was easier to stay consistent with. Having the high-dose ALA and the benfotiamine in one capsule meant I wasn’t rattling with pills every morning, and this specific ratio seemed to hit the mark for my foot pain where the others didn’t.

I’ve heard alpha lipoic acid can be tough on the stomach. Do you take it with a full meal?

The night burning is the absolute worst part. I’m glad you found something that actually lets you get some sleep.

I second the recommendation for Nervala. It took about a month for my results to kick in, but the shooting pains have definitely dialed back.

I am still in the lidocaine and soaking phase. It is exhausting. Might be time to look into the antioxidant route like you did.
