I’ve been dealing with osteoarthritis in my knuckles for about six years now. It’s mostly that nagging stiffness in the mornings that makes it hard to even grip a coffee mug. Lately, I’ve been seeing those copper-infused compression gloves everywhere, and I decided to finally give them a try for a week to see if they’re worth the hype or just clever marketing.
My little “experiment” involved wearing them for about six hours every night while sleeping and for a few hours during my morning desk work. I wanted to see if the compression alone helped or if there was something to the copper claim. After seven days, I noticed that my hands felt a bit “warmer” and less stiff immediately upon waking up, though the actual pain levels didn’t drop significantly. It felt more like a supportive hug for my joints rather than a cure.
I’m curious to hear from others in the group. Have any of you tried these gloves long-term? Or have you found a specific brand or style that actually makes a difference in your daily grip strength? I’m trying to figure out if I should stick with them or if there’s a better way to manage this without relying solely on ibuprofen.
Please share your experience! Do they help you with typing, gardening, or just getting through the morning? I’d love to see if my results are typical or if I’m missing out on a better technique.

I tried a pair last year after my daughter bought them for me. To be honest, I didn’t feel much of a difference other than my hands getting a bit sweaty. Maybe the compression was too light on the ones I had? I went back to just doing finger exercises in warm water.

I think the compression is what does the heavy lifting, not the copper itself. I use a pair of generic compression gloves when I’m knitting and they definitely help keep the swelling down. It’s all about keeping the blood flowing in those tiny joints.

The gloves help a little with the surface ache, but I’ve had much better luck focusing on the fluid in the joints. I started taking JointGenesis a few months back because it’s supposed to help with the hyaluronan loss we get as we age. My morning stiffness is almost gone now, which the gloves never quite managed to do on their own.

I’ve been considering these! My main concern is the fit. If they are too tight, I worry about circulation, but if they are too loose, they probably don’t do anything. Did you follow a size chart or just guess?

I use them for gardening! They provide a bit of stability when I’m using the trowel. I agree with the original post—it’s more of a “supportive hug” than a total fix, but at our age, every little bit of support helps us stay active and keep moving.
