I spent nearly five years hiding my feet because of thick, yellowing nails and skin that always felt irritated. It started after a gym shower incident and just never went away despite everything I tried.
What I tried before
I went through countless tubes of drugstore creams and even tried the vinegar soak trend. Most things just dried out my skin without actually helping the nail texture or the underlying discoloration.
What I changed
I started focusing on a routine that used specific oils and vitamins to build up skin resistance. I have been using ProNail Complex (i buy here) for about four months now. Unlike the messy pastes, this felt more like it was absorbing into the nail bed and the surrounding skin.
Week-by-week
- Month 1: Skin around the nails looked less red and angry.
- Month 2: The new growth at the base started looking clearer.
- Month 4: The thick, crumbly parts are almost grown out.
What improved
I can actually wear sandals without feeling self-conscious. My nails feel stronger, and the skin doesn’t peel as much. Using ProNail Complex daily really helped the overall health of my feet.
What didn’t
It is not a miracle cure. It takes a long time for nails to grow, so you have to be patient. It also requires consistency every single day.

Four months is actually pretty fast for nail growth. Did you notice any issues with the skin drying out during the first few weeks?
I had a similar timeline. I’ve been using ProNail Complex since February and the clarity of my big toe nail has improved significantly. It definitely takes persistence though.
Great to hear. I’m currently on the vinegar soak path and it’s doing nothing but making my bathroom smell like a salad. Might have to switch gears.

Does it have a strong scent? I’m sensitive to heavy medicinal smells especially if I have to put socks on right after.

The ‘resistance’ part is key. Most people just kill the surface stuff but don’t help the skin recover. I’ve found that keeping shoes dry is just as important as what you put on the nail.

I tried a prescription lacquer last year and it just made my nails peel off in layers. It was terrifying. Glad you found something gentler.

Did you use it once or twice a day? I always struggle to keep up with routines in the morning when I’m rushing for work.

I’ll vouch for this too. ProNail Complex helped clear up the peeling skin between my toes that usually flares up every summer. It’s been much more manageable this season.

I’m always a bit skeptical of these ‘blends’ but the vitamin aspect makes sense. Skin health is usually overlooked when dealing with fungus.

I’ve tried about five different oils and ProNail Complex was the only one that didn’t make my skin itch. My nails are finally looking pink and healthy again.

Thanks for sharing the timeline. Most people give up after two weeks because they don’t see a change. Seeing that it took you months helps set real expectations.
