How switching to copper-infused socks and medicated powder finally cleared my feet

After struggling with athlete’s foot for years while working long shifts in leather boots, I finally found a routine that stuck. The breakthrough wasn’t just a cream; it was moisture management. I started using a high-zinc antifungal powder inside my boots every morning before putting them on.

I also swapped my standard cotton socks for copper-infused ones. They stay much drier during my twelve-hour shifts. Between the powder absorbing the sweat and the socks providing a better barrier, the itching stopped within a week. I haven’t had a flare-up in over four months now.

The powder in the boots is such an underrated step. People focus so much on treating the skin but forget the environment inside the shoe.

Which brand of copper socks are you using? I’ve seen a few online but the prices vary wildly.

I had a similar experience. I work in a warehouse and my feet were always damp by noon. I didn’t use copper socks, but switching to merino wool made a huge difference for me too. Cotton is honestly the worst for fungus because it just holds onto the water like a sponge. Glad you found something that works, it’s such a miserable feeling when your feet are constantly itchy at work.

Be careful with the powder if you have any open cracks or sores though. Sometimes the talk-based ones can irritate the skin if it’s already raw.

I’ve been using Miconazole powder for a few weeks now. It definitely keeps things drier, but I think I need to upgrade my socks like you mentioned. My feet still feel pretty hot by the end of the day.

Did you also treat your boots with a spray? I find that if I don’t disinfect the actual insoles once a week, the fungus just comes back the second I stop using the powder.
