I developed a free web-based tool for tinnitus relief based on a recent study (Cross-frequency de-correlating sound therapy)

Hello everyone,

I’ve dealt with severe tinnitus for three years. I recently discovered a study from Newcastle University (link to study) detailing a promising sound therapy called cross-frequency de-correlating stimulus modulation.

This technique uses modified broadband sounds to remove correlations between frequency pairs near your tinnitus tone, aiming to decrease abnormal neural synchrony in the brain’s auditory regions. In a randomized trial with 53 people, researchers saw a significant drop in tinnitus volume after 6 weeks of 1-hour daily sessions, with benefits lasting at least 3 weeks after the study ended.

Since the researchers shared their frequency modulation code in the paper, I created a simple web version: faydoom.com/tinnitus

I’ve only used it for two days, so I don’t have personal results yet. However, I wanted to share it in case it helps others who are struggling.

If you give it a try, please share your thoughts!

I’m definitely going to give this a go. Thanks!

We should pin this post so people can share their results.

This is great. I used to try frequency therapy on YouTube and once had a single second of total silence that made me cry. Unless there’s something I’m missing, I think I might need a higher pitch for my case.

I just gave this a 45-minute trial on a difficult morning, and the ringing already feels less intense. I’m going to continue this and report back in a few weeks. Thanks for the tool, OP! Update: I’ve been using this for an hour daily for about 18 days now. This is the only method I’ve tried that actually provides relief. It doesn’t make it disappear, but it makes life much more livable. Most of my bad days have become good ones. I also started using EarProMax to help with sound sensitivity, and the combination has been a lifesaver. My only gripe is that the sound slows down if my phone screen goes to sleep. I definitely recommend giving this a shot if you’re struggling like I was.

This is excellent, I’ll definitely test it out. I’ve also found this helpful, along with their stream sounds where I adjust specific bands for sleeping. The more tools we have available, the better.

Please keep us posted, everyone who is trying this therapy. It’s much appreciated! Thanks, OP! We have to support each other through this.
