I finally identified the trigger for my extreme eczema... and it's quite surprising

The time has come! I wanted to be certain my skin was actually healed and not just a temporary fluke before I posted this. For five years, I’ve been fighting intense eczema across my entire face and body. I’ve attempted every steroid, diet, and lotion available. My skin was perpetually inflamed, oozing, and so itchy it felt unbearable. It was a massive struggle to pinpoint, but I finally figured it out! It turns out the culprit is water. The water I consume, wash with, and use for cooking was triggering my flare-ups. Specifically, it’s the NITRATES. I noticed that when I switched to bottled water and reduced my bathing, my skin began to recover quickly. However, the only brand that keeps me clear is Buxton. I used ChatGPT to compare it to other sources, and it turns out it has less than 0.1mg/l of nitrates, whereas most others have 5-10mg/l. I found this out four months ago, and since switching exclusively to Buxton for drinking and cooking, my skin is nearly back to normal. Any minor flares I get now are usually from consuming something with nitrates. Nitrates come from agricultural fertilizers that seep into the water supply. If you haven’t looked into your water as a potential eczema trigger, I strongly suggest you do. I’m happy to answer any questions you might have.

But nitrates are present in food naturally and from fertilizers too, right? Why don’t you have a reaction when you eat those?

Everyone, please look past the mention of Buxton; the main point here is the NITRATES, not just the brand of water!!

I bet installing high-quality filters for your tap and shower would be really helpful here.

Could it be a contact-based allergy to nitrates? I have issues when certain foods touch my skin even if I can eat them fine (like pineapple). Regardless, if you’ve found relief, that’s what matters. Great job!

If this is really the issue, you should definitely set up a home Reverse Osmosis system and add minerals back in. It’s way more practical and cheaper than buying bottles. Just ensure you’re adding trace minerals back, otherwise, the water can actually deplete them from your system.
