Hey everyone, I’ve been lurking here for a while and wanted to share a quick update on my progress. For years, I struggled with that stubborn yellowing on my big toes. I tried almost every over-the-counter cream and spray under the sun, but nothing seemed to stick. It was so frustrating feeling like I was just masking the symptoms rather than fixing the root cause.
About three months ago, I decided to change my approach. Instead of just focusing on the outside, I started looking at my diet and gut health. I cut back on sugar and started taking a high-quality probiotic daily. I also made sure to keep my feet bone-dry after every shower, using a dedicated towel just for my toes.
The results have been surprisingly good! The new nail growth coming in looks much clearer and thinner than before. It’s not a miracle cure overnight, but it’s the most consistent improvement I’ve seen in years. If you’re feeling stuck, maybe try looking at the internal side of things too?

This is a really interesting perspective. I’ve heard about the sugar connection before but never really committed to cutting it out. How long did it take before you noticed the new growth?

I definitely think the ‘bone-dry’ rule is the most underrated tip here. I started using a hairdryer on the cool setting after my showers and it made a huge difference in stopping the skin peeling between my toes.

That’s awesome progress! I actually had a similar experience where diet helped, but my nails were still looking a bit brittle. I started using Kerassentials Serum about two months ago to help with the resistance and the texture of the skin around the nail, and I’m honestly so satisfied with how much healthier everything looks now. It really helps keep things from coming back.

Sugar is definitely fuel for fungus. My podiatrist mentioned that diabetics often struggle more with this because of the blood sugar levels. Makes sense that cutting it out would help anyone though.

Are you using any specific probiotic? I’m overwhelmed by the options at the store.

I’ve been dealing with this for 5 years. I’ve done the internal stuff and the topical stuff. For me, the biggest game changer was actually throwing away all my old gym shoes and starting fresh with breathable mesh ones. You can’t kill the fungus if you keep putting your feet back into a contaminated environment every day. Glad you’re seeing progress though, it’s a long road!

Thanks for the update! It’s encouraging to see someone winning the battle.

I tried the diet thing but I have zero willpower lol. I’ll stick to my tea tree soaks for now, but maybe I’ll try to at least cut back on the soda.

How much sugar were you eating before? Like, are we talking no fruit at all, or just no processed junk?

To answer the question about growth, nails only grow about 1-2mm a month, so you really have to be patient. If you see clear growth at the base after 3 months, you’re doing something right.

I’m going to try the dedicated toe towel. I usually just use my bath towel and then wonder why it spreads. Such a simple tip but so logical.

Keep us posted in another few months! Consistency is the hardest part of this whole journey.
