I have consulted with two pelvic floor specialists, and both seemed quite confused by my case. My symptoms include a total lack of the urge to urinate in my abdomen or urethra, a loss of that heavy or urgent sensation when needing the restroom, and numbness in my genitals. I have spent over £200 so far, and the only observation they made was some diaphragm tightness while breathing. I’m wondering if the lack of pain is why they are struggling to help. I would really value any input or suggestions.
I am in the same boat. I recently lost the sensation or urge to have a bowel movement, though I occasionally get faint signals. I have noticed that drinking caffeine seems to bring the urge back.
This is a common experience for many individuals with pelvic floor issues.
How are you able to go to the bathroom?
Have you had any imaging performed? I’d suggest making sure cauda equina syndrome is ruled out. It is probably not the reason, but if it were, surgery would be necessary to decompress the base of the spinal cord.
If you aren’t getting results and scans don’t show a specific cause or injury, I’d advise working on strengthening your glutes and core. This is a solid strategy as long as you slowly increase the weight and intensity over time. ![]()
I am going through the exact same thing. I’ve been dealing with this for a year and a half. So far, doctors haven’t been helpful at all. I’m seeing a neurologist in a major city today, so hopefully, that provides some answers.
