Klonopin silenced my ringing ears

Background info: 33-year-old male, dealing with tinnitus since Sept 2025. I smoke and drink way too much coffee (6-9 cups daily). Anyway, last night was rough for sleep and I’ve been stressed. Today, the ringing hit a 10/10 in both ears—absolutely miserable. Usually, it’s a 6/10 in just one. I figured, why not give it a shot? I used some of my sister’s liquid Clonazepam (2.5mg/ml), taking about 15 drops. Within two hours, the noise completely vanished. I know it won’t last, but it’s something to think about.

Benzodiazepines are effective at calming the ringing, but long-term use actually triggers tinnitus. It’s a risky trade-off.

Unfortunately, it’s only a short-term fix. I have a prescription for severe spikes, but I use it very rarely to avoid developing a dependency.

Poor sleep definitely aggravates tinnitus; try wearing yourself out with exercise to sleep better! My symptoms are most manageable when I have a solid routine, low work stress, and daily physical activity. Needing sleep aids is usually a red flag that I’m overwhelmed. Prioritize your well-being above all else!
