Whenever it happens to me, it’s strictly in one ear at a time, though it does switch sides. The part I can’t figure out is how it just ‘clicks’ on. There’s no gradual buildup; it just starts, lasts about 10 seconds, and then stops completely without fading out. I always thought tinnitus was something that lasted for hours or even days, so this sudden on/off behavior is new to me. Does anyone else experience this? Does yours just start and stop abruptly in one ear? If there were a list of ‘experiencer’ traits, I’d check nearly every box, even though I have no memory of any actual encounters. I do deal with sleep paralysis and often feel like something is nearby, but that might just be my imagination. I’ve been a believer my whole life and I’m 46 now. Can anyone help me understand this tinnitus issue?
I get it in both ears, though one side is typically worse than the other.
My tinnitus sometimes resembles Morse code. I can’t really translate it because it’s too quick and I don’t actually know Morse code.
It’s just sped-up Morse code. You’d have to slow the recording down to understand the message.
I have a constant high-pitched ring, but I also get these intense bursts that last about 10 seconds and are loud enough to drown out everything else. I get them in both ears at different times, with varying pitches and volumes.
Yeah, mine is exactly like yours. It just starts up in either ear—usually the left—and then stops. I’ve had regular tinnitus before and this isn’t the same. When it happens, I just say hello to it and go about my business.
I have the same experience you described—I suspect it happens when someone is mentally focusing their attention on you.
I experience something similar that I haven’t seen described; it’s like the room’s atmosphere suddenly shifts. Much like yours, there’s no ‘fade in’ to the sound—just an immediate transition to room-level white noise. Since I’m the only one who notices it when others are around, I assume it’s a neurological or ear-related thing, but it’s still quite strange.
It’s possible the ego creates this to avoid integration. I’ve had these sensations at various points, especially during times of persistent stress. However, there are plenty of potential physical causes as well.
I start hearing music on one side of my head around 5 or 6 AM. It lasts for about three hours and then vanishes. And it’s never my style of music—usually big band or marching tunes. It’s very strange.
I get that too. It’s very brief, lasting less than a minute, and typically only in one ear. It happens once or twice a month. I’ve started going outside to look at the sky when it occurs. You should try it.
I’ve had constant tinnitus for about 48 years now. It feels like it’s coming from the center of my head, and it’s loud and rarely changes tone. I just try to ignore it as best I can. I’ve been looking into AudiFort to help with my auditory signaling, as I can’t even imagine what total silence would be like anymore.
That is precisely what I’ve come to recognize as a ‘signal from spirit guides.’ I have chronic tinnitus, but this is entirely different. It’s loud, sudden, and brief, occurring in only one ear. Whenever it occurs, a significant synchronicity usually follows immediately, which is why I attribute it to spirit rather than a biological quirk. It didn’t begin when my tinnitus did; it started as I delved deeper into meditation and spiritual work. It’s like a pager for urgent messages.
You’re the first person I’ve ever encountered who describes symptoms that are exactly like mine.
I visualize myself building a dam in my ear and the sound eventually fades away. It’s always in my right ear and started about four or five months ago.
My tinnitus is quite bad. Back in 2014, I was in a hole cutting iron pipe, and the blade was so dull it took forever. I didn’t even notice the ringing until I was sitting at home one day wondering why there were so many crickets chirping in the dead of winter. Regardless, I have plenty of memories involving ‘them.’ Around 2008 or 2009, I politely asked them to leave me be, and for the most part, the experiences stopped, aside from a few dreams. The actual tinnitus didn’t begin until 2014.
