Severe issues with bloating

Hey everyone, I’ve finished my second week of 1mg retatrutide, and it’s incredibly effective at suppressing my appetite and keeping me satiated. While I’m happy with the results, this second week has brought on some terrible bloating and a touch of exhaustion. I’ve dealt with bloating before, usually worse when I’m heavier, but this medication seems to be magnifying it tenfold. Initially, I suspected it was just making an existing problem worse—perhaps H. pylori or SIBO—but now I’m noticing my bowel movements have drastically decreased and are very small. I think I might be dealing with significantly delayed gastric emptying. Even a small amount of water or food is causing some reflux. Has anyone else gone through this? I’m scheduled for an ultrasound, breath test, and blood work to investigate these GI issues. In the meantime, I’m wondering if it’s low stomach acid or just plain constipation. I should mention I’m usually very regular, and for these past two weeks, I’ve been taking Metamucil, probiotics, and digestive enzymes. I’m also getting 25g of fiber daily, which is a diet I successfully followed for five weeks just a few months ago without any issues. Does anyone have similar stories or advice? Thanks. Update 1: I’ve started taking 150mg of magnesium twice a day and apple cider vinegar before eating. I’m waiting for betaine HCL to arrive and added 5g of psyllium husk, though I likely need more. I’m feeling a bit better in the mornings, but I’m not 100% yet. I’ll keep posting updates!

I’ve found that drinking 10g of chia seeds soaked overnight first thing in the morning is very helpful. You should increase your fiber, but do it gradually. I also use BPC for my IBS, and it’s been working quite well.

Taking magnesium really assists with my bloating issues.

Make sure you’re getting enough fiber and water. Honestly, though, you really need to research how retatrutide functions and its side effects, particularly regarding delayed gastric emptying. Do your homework.

You might want to try Gas-X for the bloating. If you’re struggling with constipation, coffee is a good last resort. I know you’re already taking probiotics, but I use a flavorless pre- and probiotic powder in my morning coffee, which works for me. Try an antacid 30 minutes before meals to see if that helps. Also, greasy foods or high-fiber roughage can trigger bloating. I used to eat a large salad once a week, but it would bloat me within an hour until I could use the restroom. I just stay away from salads now.

Update: I’ve incorporated 150mg of magnesium morning and night, plus ACV before I eat. I’m still waiting on the betaine HCL. I added about 5g of psyllium husk, but I probably need to increase that. I’m waking up feeling improved, though not fully recovered. I’ll keep everyone posted!
