Should I sign up for the three-day walking tour of historic Savannah?

I’ve been eyeing a three-day historical walking tour of Savannah for months. It’s a city I’ve always wanted to see up close, and the itinerary looks incredible. However, my knees have been a bit of a question mark lately. On good days, I can manage a mile or two on flat pavement without much fuss. On bad days, even a trip to the mailbox feels like a chore. The tour covers about four miles a day, mostly on cobblestones and uneven sidewalks, which is what gives me pause.

I’ve been trying to be diligent about my stretching and staying hydrated, but we all know that joint comfort isn’t always linear. There’s a lot of uncertainty in how my body might react by the second or third afternoon of sustained activity. I’ve noticed that when I stay mobile, things generally feel better, but there’s a fine line between “good movement” and “overdoing it” that I haven’t quite mastered yet. I don’t want to be the person holding up the group or, worse, stuck in the hotel room icing my legs while everyone else is enjoying the sights.

The organizers say there are benches every few blocks, but “every few blocks” is a subjective measure when your joints are acting up. I’m torn between the desire to stay active and the fear of a flare-up that could ruin the trip. Have any of you faced a similar dilemma with a high-activity vacation? How do you gauge if your body is actually ready for that kind of sustained effort, and what strategies do you use to manage the physical toll of several days on your feet?
