Success using tanning and acyclovir!

Hello everyone! I’d like to talk about what worked for my Pityriasis Rosea. The herald patch showed up roughly three weeks back. Like many others, I assumed it was a fungus, so I didn’t treat it as PR for about ten days until it started spreading and I figured out what it was. I visited urgent care for an acyclovir prescription. The physician mentioned there isn’t extensive research supporting its effectiveness but gave it to me to try. I just wrapped up the week-long course, and I’m convinced it prevented a major breakout! The rash stayed mostly on my midsection and chest, particularly underneath my breasts. I have a few minor spots on my limbs and armpits, but they aren’t very visible—they look more like bites or ingrown hairs. Plus, I haven’t experienced any itching. Tanning has actually been the biggest help!! Being fair-skinned, I was unsure, but the outcome is surprising. After three 7-minute UVB sessions, the spots have faded significantly. My goal was to feel okay in a bikini again, and I’ve reached that point! I made sure to use SPF on my face and used a towel to protect areas that got too much sun. I’ll probably do a few more visits, but it’s cleared up enough that I can get back to my summer plans. Good luck to anyone currently dealing with this! It’s unfortunate there isn’t more research on PR, but I’m happy I listened to the personal stories shared here.

I’m going through something very similar. I began taking acyclovir about 10 days after the rash appeared. It has become quite severe across my whole body, so I’m uncertain if the meds are helping. That said, I tried tanning yesterday, and within hours, numerous patches began to lighten and dry out. I also tried Nizoral shampoo as a body wash tonight, which also seemed to dry things out. I’m optimistic that the peak has passed and the clearing will persist.

What was the intensity level for those 7 minutes?
